The Argentine Government appointed the titular and substitute members of the board of directors of the new Armed Forces Social Work (OSFA), through resolution 124/2026 published this Wednesday in the Official Gazette. This measure, following the guidelines of Decree 88/26, establishes the launch of this new autonomous entity that will have its own legal personality and capacity to act in both the public and private legal spheres. The OSFA will operate throughout the territory of the Argentine Republic, under the supervision and control of the Ministry of Defense, and will be led by a board of directors composed of five titular members, each with a substitute. The head of said ministry is responsible for appointing and removing its members. The formation of the leadership is carried out through two members proposed by the Chief of the Army General Staff, one by the Chief of the Navy General Staff, another by the Chief of the Argentine Air Force General Staff, and a representative of the civilian personnel of the Armed Forces or the OSFA, as established by the regulations. At the head of the new institution was appointed Brigadier General (R) Sergio Maldonado, who will serve as president for a two-year period. He will be accompanied by Brigadier General (R) Omar Horacio Domínguez, Gustavo Rubén Rivas, and Commodore (R) Juan Carlos Ruiz Pringles. Both appointments arose at the proposal of the Chief of the Army General Staff. Completing the board of directors as titular members are Captain of the Sea (R.E.) Miguel Ángel Alonso and Commodore Sergio Luis Busdrago. The members of the Directory will serve two years in their positions, with the possibility of being re-elected for one more time, and the titular members may be replaced by their substitutes with the same powers, in case of resignation or justified absence. The new directors must prove 'technical suitability, experience in leadership or management functions in health services, social security, public administration, financial administration and/or direction of large organizations'. The creation of the OSFA as an autonomous entity marks a paradigm shift in the management of the health of the forces, after the comprehensive restructuring of the Armed Forces and Security Social Work Institute (IOSFA) due to a financial crisis that led to the separation of health coverage for military and federal police personnel. The decision aims to achieve greater procedural agility and efficient financial autonomy that will allow it to improve the quality of medical care throughout the country for members of the forces.
